After releasing a new headset to celebrate its first anniversary, Niantic is now preparing for the Peridot 2025 scientific exchange program. The company has opened recruitment for participants. That is good news for the Dot community.
In May this year, Peridot turned one year old and launched festivity in honor of the achievement, albeit shortlived. The best part of the celebrations was a new app dubbed “Hello Dot,” which the Global Product Marketing Lead, Asim Ahmed, described as “an early mixed reality showcase.”
Released on Meta Quest 3, the app became downloadable and added much glee to celebrating members and their Dots.
Peridot: Experiencing the Magic of Mixed Reality
In a heart-touching letter to members, Ahmed reached out to each user, imploring them to embrace the festive moment with their Dots. He wrote, “Hello, Dot, takes the best parts of caring for your adorable Dot companions and brings them to life through the magic of mixed reality.
“In this immersive experience, you’ll be able to admire just how visually stunning your Dots are up close and develop a special bond with them as you play together. Imagine being able to hook your hands under your Dot’s arms and pick them up.”
At the time, the letter listed the need for the expansion of Peridot to other platforms besides mobile. The truth is, the program has grown and is now downloadable for PC. This information is based on an announcement made by BlueStacks.

Amazingly, the dream is fast becoming reality, and the Niantic team deserves the thumbs up they are getting. One must wonder: will it be possible to follow Asim Ahmed’s desire soon?
“I dream for the day we’ll be able to see Dots by our side outdoors through true AR glasses.”
