Angry Birds Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Special In-Game Events
“Since its debut in 2009, the Angry Birds universe has expanded with new titles, all of which have introduced new twists to the classic gameplay while maintaining the charm of the original,” said Ben Mattes, Angry Birds Creative Officer at Rovio.
“Angry Birds isn’t just a game anymore—it’s a global phenomenon! Angry Birds has conquered categories far beyond gaming, from licensed products and feature films to amusement parks, becoming one of the first mobile game franchises to achieve such widespread acclaim.”
As one of the few gaming IPs outside console gaming that can claim such cultural and economic staying power outside of console gaming, Angry Birds is pioneering the next era in transmedia storytelling. No matter how the mobile gaming world evolves, Rovio remains committed to consistently delivering world-class, globally competitive experiences that remain with fans even after they stop playing.
“With Angry Birds celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, we wanted to find out how diverse creative voices can bring this beloved brand to life and bring joy to new global audiences through even more platforms and mediums,” said Eva Aaltonen, Head of Brand Operations at Rovio.
“Alongside being an endlessly fun title that appeals to players, fans, and artists globally, Angry Birds is a once-in-a-lifetime story of how far you can really go when you have an idea, an IP, and an implementation that resonates. We love to see the Angry Birds community growing as it keeps finding new ways to engage with our universe.”
