World of Neopets Limited, the company behind Neopets, has announced a pre-registration period for Neopets: Faerie Fragments, a recreation of the 2022 Neopets Faerie’s Hope game.
In a statement from the World of Neopets team, they confirm the previous game was developed under the previous ownership of the Neopets brand – before the July 2023 transfer of the company from NetDragon to the current owners.
“Neopets: Faeries Fragments is a remastered version of the previously released game Neopets: Faerie’s Hope. Due to technical challenges encountered during the NetDragon and Jumpstart eras, Faerie’s Hope was discontinued. However, with the new management and a strong belief in the game’s essence and value to the Neopian community, we have chosen to remaster the game, incorporating graphical enhancements and minor narrative adjustments.”
Neopets: Faerie Fragments – Trailer
As with its predecessor, Neopets: Faerie Fragments is going to be a match-three game using characters from Neopia and your ability to customize your own home as you rebuild Faerieland. There is a revival going on at Neopets at the moment, since many of the old pages have been modernized and many classic games have been revived since the game was taken over by fans and former team members.
Despite its age, the browser-based experience is in very good shape considering it’s 25 years old. It moves you between old and new interfaces as you explore the world. By pre-registering Neopets: Faerie Fragments through your Neopets Neopass account, you will receive rewards. If you played Faerie’s Hope, you can contact support for a premium bundle.
In an article published by The Verge, the Neopets studio announced a new beginning for the game. The company boasts of a huge loya fan base that will make the new game an instant hit.
Despite Neopets being nearly 24 years old and long past its heyday, the site still sees a fair bit of traffic: Law tells me Neopets has “close to a million” monthly active users, and that number “has been really consistent” over the past few years. “Our community is so strong,” he says. Even though the site has languished, there’s “a really loyal fanbase that has been sticking around.”
